DIVE INTO LEKUAN 1, 2 AND 3 Accessed by boat and suitable for all levels, the Lekuan dive sites are the crown jewels of Bunaken Marine Park. Here, massive walls blanketed in sponges, soft and hard corals descend to about 40m before sloping out, offering an awe-inspiring spectacle for both macro and wide-angle enthusiasts. With visibility up to 30m, you can marvel at the myriad of pyramid butterfly fish and occasionally spot an eagle ray in the blue. The sites are a macro haven, housing pygmy seahorses, orangutan crabs, nudibranch, and much more. Vibrant hard corals, barrel sponges, and soft corals add to the spectrum, while green sea turtles and reef sharks are other highlights not to be missed.

SACHIKO’S

Diving safari in the depths of the ocean with a shark

Sachiko’s Point is a stunning wall dive on Bunaken Island’s north side. The site features an underwater canvas of gorgonian sea fans. The blue waters often serve as the playground for barracudas, black tip reef sharks, and Napoleon wrasses. With visibility ranging from 10-30m, the reef shallows make for perfect snorkeling, and you might see a group of bumphead parrotfish feasting on the hard corals. Whether you’re diving or snorkeling, Sachiko’s offers a delightful underwater journey.

BUNAKEN TIMUR

Suitable for divers of all skill levels, Bunaken Timur is a dive site nestled on the east side of Bunaken Island (“Timur” means “East” in Indonesian). This 40m deep wall is adorned with hard and soft corals. Its shallow reef top, one of the most unspoiled around Bunaken, provides superb snorkeling opportunities. This is also an excellent site for spotting green and hawksbill turtles, occasional passing eagle rays, and a variety of macro critters. With an average visibility of 15-25m, Bunaken Timur promises an immersive diving experience.

PANGULINGAN OR TANJUNG KOPI

Situated on the northern side of Manado Tua and accessed by boat, Pangulingan or Tanjung Kopi is a dive site designed for the advanced divers. Its appeal lies in the strong currents that can swiftly carry you across the reef. The reef plateau commences at a depth of 5m and gradually slopes down to 30m before the wall plummets to even greater depths. Because of the currents, it’s a popular hangout for bigger fish, including resident schools of batfish and jackfish. Napoleon fish are often seen gracing the currents. With visibility extending up to 30+ meters, this site offers a challenging yet rewarding dive.
